| Background M/s Onida Savak Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of washing machines in India. Some parts of these washing machines such as wash timers were imported from china. The consignment from China was dispatched by sea. The consignment had been damaged on the way.
The Problem
• First, the cardboard boxes containing wash timer were wet.
• Second, the wash timers were open without protective covering.
• Third, the transparent body of wash timers had become translucent due to accumulation of moisture and dampness. Thus the material was inapt for use, could lead to electric shock and hence susceptible to corrosion.
• Quality control department of Onida Savak had rejected the material.
The Solution
 Because Technical Drying Services (TDS) effectively addressed any drying needs "in real time", TDS was called by Mr. Malhotra of IFFCO TOKYO General Insurance Company Ltd . TDS was on sight within few hours. The restoration work started with preliminary activities of assessing the damage. It was found that the corrosion had not taken place, but moisture had entered into the material. The wash timers were made up of plastic and metals. Dehumidifiers were installed for drying.

The wash timers were made up of non-hygroscopic material were resistant to any damage upto temperature of about 70 o C. The timers were paced in iron crates covered with plastic sheet ton create a vapour barrier. The task was pulling moisture out of WASH TIMERS.
The dehumidification process was carried for two days the material was given to quality Department for checking and reliability test.
