Background
ITC Paperboards & Speciality Papers, an ITC group company, at Bhadrachalan, is the largest manufacturers of packaging and graphic boards.The manufacturing plant is spread over 500 acres and is touted as the largest site for pulp and paper production in India.
During the monsoon season the humidity level increased and ITC required to control humidity at Paper Making Machine (PMM) area to avoid insects ingression during the paper production process.
Problems
The graphic board is used for packing food products and thus it needs to maintain high level of hygiene. High moisture in monsoon led to inflow of insects in the paper manufacturing area. Insects would get trapped in the graphic board paper rolls which lead to rejection of lots.
Our Solution
Technical Drying Services (TDS) offered Desiccant Dehumidifiers on rent. A quick installation of our state-of-the-art Dehumidifier was done in different locations in the production area by our expert technicians. The moisture level was reduced which lead to drastic reduction of insects. Placement and shifting of machines were done as per the customers requirement to get better results.
Not only the quality of paper improved, there were no rejections of lot in the audits.
Initially they had ordered 6 Dehumidifiers, TDS-1200 cfm. After experiencing the benefits they ordered 6 more Dehumidifiers. Customer was satisfied with our services and utilized our services for 120 days under the supervision of our qualified service technicians.
